The Howling Tunnell

45 degrees feeling like it was 31 degrees. Warming up from just inside the door to the locker room. Lifelong friends stood in the tunnel while the pouring rain and cold settled the final score of the game.

Why Not Talk About Our Age

Everyone wonders and are often in fear of obtaining the answer because some tradition or cultures “says” you should never ask – THE question – of AGE.

It is no accident, our birth, or the date upon which we were born. Why not celebrate all that life’s journey has brought forth so far?! Why not reflect in gratitude of the lessons, experiences, love and blessings?!!!

Each day brings us 86,400 seconds! We should not fear them, rather savor those moments. So, on behalf of those of us who do not mind the passing years and changes that come with these passing days…CELEBRATE YOU! Happy Birthday to YOU! and me too!

Odonata

Dragonflies are able to move in six directions, fly at more than 45 miles per hour, hover like a helicopter, fly backwards, straight up and down and side to side! It exudes a sense of power and poise – something that comes only with age and maturity (symbolism of the Dragonfly). The most common symbol for a dragonfly is change. Change, to make something different from what it is, to transform or convert -seems appropriate.

Alternative names for a dragonfly are: darning needle, snake feeder, mosquito hawk, skeeter hawk, ear sewer, and snake doctor. Bizarre names as they are, the dragonfly itself is harmless to humans. They prey on Mosquitos and other insects.

Mystical to me.

Textures of Life

Getting down to the nitty gritty. Granular details that are the threads of the fabric. The creative process which produces a unique blend of nature, love and sometimes a Milagros.

Finding, or stumbling across an image that feeds the soul. Enlightenment and joy, to you, the artist, most often solely the one.

The rewards are great. The gift ignited to repeat the discovery. The power of a grain of sand.

An opening in the light house. Light shining downward and into a small space. The confines offer muse and silence of lights beauty and reflection. I pause to embrace and show gratitude. Capture this moment through my lens. The joy and surprise extends upwards. I give into its curiosity and discover a beautiful day. – Lori Harris
